Hydration as a 24 Hours A Day Routine

More than just eight glasses of water a day, there exist strategies behind when to consume water. Depending on your lifestyle, its smart to drink water based off both your exercise and your eating schedule. On top of that, we’ll discuss some general rules of thumb to ensure optimal hydration.

In a Livestrong blog, hydration for optimal performance is discussed as,

“You need extra water when you're active because muscles generate heat and the body perspires to stay cool. Water also transports energy-providing glucose to muscles and carries wastes away from them, which helps prevent muscle fatigue. After an hour of exercise, you can lose over 1 quart of water, according to the American Council on Exercise. To maintain endurance, you should drink before, during and after your workout. Water is your best choice for hydrating during exercise, but you may need a sports drink to replace electrolytes along with fluids after 45 to 60 minutes of high-intensity exercise.”

Here at Trago, we strive to assist you in reaching said hydration goals scheduled around your workout routine. Our technology allows you to either connect directly to your already existing wearable device (FitBit for example) or, input your exercise to our platform directly.  Our system then calculates and reminds you of the appropriate amount of water needed to refuel and maintain hydration throughout the day.

In terms of your eating habits, proper hydration actually helps to regulate appetite. Hydration can even be used as a tool to aid in weight loss. Drinking a glass of water before eating gives your body the satiety that keeps you from overeating. Men’s Fitness promotes hydrating first thing in the morning, immediately after you wake up.

Lastly, SELF health and nutrition magazine, recommends five ways to stay hydrated throughout the day. Amongst them are points including, track what you drink, set a hydration alarm, and fuel your body with leafy greens that have a higher water content. Remember to drink water throughout the day, and if you can’t, connect with Trago for reminders!
